DAN ARNABAR
is a New York City-based photographer, born in Mexico City and moved to the United States as a child, he found his way to photography as his visual expression of his creativity.
Growing up with an artist mother, Dan was surrounded by art from a young age. His relationship with photography began in rural Pennsylvania, where he grew up, where he helped his mother in documenting the weathered barns and landscapes to serve as references for her paintings. These early morning excursions instilled a lasting appreciation for capturing quiet, ordinary moments, usually absent of human subjects, emphasizing composition, color and texture.
This collection of images is a quiet re-encounter with the places of his youth. Taken across Mexico City, Huatulco, and Mérida, the photographs explore a personal reconnection with these locations, focusing on quiet moments and everyday scenes. The absence of human subjects allows for an emphasis on line, light, color, and texture, creating an abstracted view of the environment. These images a visual exploration of a familiar yet distant place, a way to understand and recontextualize a personal history
