Jan Remschnigg is a photographer and visual artist based in Berlin, Germany.

His practice centers on themes of observation, urban environments, and everyday structures, mostly explored through long-term documentary projects on film.

Originally trained as a stonemason, he is now studying social work, a background that significantly influences his artistic perspective and approach.

Remschnigg slid across our iPhones via instagram through a reel while taking a bus through Berlin. The short video we discovered was about printing your own photography work, resulting in a mini zine at the end of the reel. We were immediately drawn to the non-verbal promotion of taking your work from the digital space to the physical. Highlighting the importance photographers being able to touch and feel their work and flip through the pages to experience that feeling of seeing one’s photography in print. Also the promotion and continuation of creating with your own two hands and not waiting for permission by an institution to see your work being put into print yourself.

Remschnigg has published his first zine and is currently working on the release of his upcoming photo-book “CCTV1“.
